The product was rebranded Softimage Elastic Reality after Avid separately acquired Softimage in 1998.īefore 1994, ASDG had started on the Amiga, and produced an image processing application called Art Department Professional (ADPro), and in 1992 a precursor to Elastic Reality called MorphPlus. The company was acquired by Avid Technology in March 1995. The product was originally created by ASDG of Madison, Wisconsin, which renamed itself Elastic Reality Inc, in 1994, following the success of its product. Several members of the Elastic Reality team including three original members, one almost original member, and one member who came later. The application supported 8-bit and 16-bit images, and image sequences. The application also featured basic color correction and image compositing tools, as well as the ability to keyframe the motion of bézier shapes in groups and onto motion paths, and could be used for motion graphics effects not typically associated with morphing. Other warping tools have typically offered a simpler warping and morphing based on animating points on a grid, which can require significantly more work from the artist to animate distortion of organic shapes such as human faces. Elastic Reality made its name with the ease of use of its tool, and the quality of the resulting warps. If the warp is used to blend two images together, the effect is called morphing.
ELASTIC REALITY OSCAR SOFTWARE
The software then automatically generates an animated distortion of the image, commonly called a warp. You see, it is not Softimage’s problem: it is our problem but I guess seeking a helping hand from you folks can’t hurt, right?Īnyway, I really appreciate your response and openness: it a good sign that Softimage and you are on the right path to success. The workflow of the application is based around drawing source and destination curves or shapes onto an image using bézier curve tools.
ELASTIC REALITY OSCAR MANUALS
I don’t care for the box, nor printed manuals also.Īfter that, if I could go to the e-store and upgrade, say, from Essentials to Advanced or buy extra licenses without having to go through the reseller locally (if our credit card’s limit allows) it would be a real bonus. On top of that, I think it could help your sales effort in a country riddled with piracy, many times stimulated by the bureaucracy-dominated import procedure. So, as a first time customer, if I could pay locally to your reseller, at the same international e-store price and immediately be able to download it it would be a nice start and a real incentive to consider changing our tiny studio’s pipeline from Max to Softimage.
ELASTIC REALITY OSCAR PLUS
Due to local generalized law-dumbness I might (never contacted your reseller here to know for sure) very well have to pay 100% tax over Softimage software for instance (Autodesk somehow charges the same 3.5k dollars for Max through their local resellers, though) plus wait a couple of months to get the box. I see your point but I really would appreciate the freedom and agility of having at least the option of going there to purchase extra licenses, upgrades etc without having to go through the usually lengthy and expensive software import procedures down here. Is there a problem with your regional reseller or sales office? Drop me a line if you need us to point you in the right direction: Leo, XSI Advanced at $6995 is a pretty expensive product to make available online… For the higher-value ‘studio grade’ products, we generally insist that our customers go to resellers because they can get better support, training, etc.
